Reading ListFriday Reading and Viewing List:   Deception press videos just keep-a-comin'; enjoy this gem from MovieWebMovieFIX's interviewer obviously enjoyed the film.  Deception's director, Marcel Langenegger, guides readers through the process of  creating a specific scene. 

In what has become a yearly treat, the folks at Sacramento's CBS 13 chat with Hugh about current projects.  The Los Angeles Times offers a fascinating analysis of Hugh's creative relationship with Fox.  Washington City Paper is hosting a Deception ticket give-away for DC, Virginia and Maryland moviegoers.  Oz's Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph both feature Hugh interviews.

In Wolverine news, Aussie actress Tahyna Tozzi is the latest person added to the cast.

Reading ListThursday Reading and Viewing List: In Australia film news, at long last here is a good first look at Hugh’s upcoming fall release. Australia’s director, Baz Luhrmann, hosts the first of 10 scheduled podcasts featured on Apple’s "Set to Screen" series, which will take a look at different aspects of the production of this film. For those who cannot access Apple or iTunes, MovieWeb.com features the first podcast. The digital postproduction storage company EFilm will be handling those duties for Australia. In X-Men Origins: Wolverine news, Narellan Library in the Australian town of Camden will host a stuntman workshop on April 24 featuring Hugh’s stunt double from the film.

Reading ListTV Alert: For our friends Down Under, you will have a couple of chances to see Hugh; Hugh is the subject of a documentary on Foxtel's Bio channel on Thursday 24th at 8.30.   And Hugh will appear on The Show with Rove McManus on April 27. Check your local listings for air times.

Gallery Update:  JL has added a gallery for Hugh's upcoming film Australia featuring a lovely first official still from the film.

Speaking of Australia--both the film and the country--Baz Luhrmann's epic film may be a boon to his country’s film industry. And the film is included among Fox’s list of major releases for 2008.

TV News (Australian TV Alert!):  In Seed news, the young production company's newest venture, An Aussie Goes Bolly, airs next week. And Hugh's best mate Gus Worland returns as host for this second cricket series.

In Other News:  High praise to Deb and her efforts to improve Australia's adoption policy; it seems that positive progress is being made. Hugh is among good company in Wizard Magazine's inaugural Hall of Fame inductees for 2007. While a fun bit of news has Hugh landing top spot in the Daily Telegraph's Man of the Year poll for 2007.

Another quiet night in a series of quiet weeks.  We hope Hugh and his family are enjoying a lovely holiday break.   In addition, we'd like to bid each and every one of you a very merry Christmas and blessed holiday season.  Thank you, as always,  for visiting, for your contributions, and most of all,  for your friendships.  Nic, Lori, Mel and Mon, my sincere appreciation for always being there; JL wouldn't exist without your steadfast support.

JL enters its eighth year in 2008.  As long as you, our readers, are here and we have the energy to continue this volunteer passion, amidst our warp-speed lives, the plan is to do so.

The JL staff plans to enjoy a well-deserved vacation beginning Monday, December 24th, returning Wednesday, January 2nd.  Should anything spectacularly interesting occur during our hiatus, we'll scramble from the beneath the mistletoe and post.

Reading List Thursday Reading List:  In Australia film news, at last Hugh’s work on the epic Baz Luhrmann film comes to an end this week! Another article expands on the story, but includes slight spoilers. Australia costar David Gulpilil provides some insight into his role in the film.

And, in movie trailer news, a Russian trailer (with the original voices in the background) for 2008's The List (as 2007's The Tourist) has found its way onto YouTube. Reading ListThursday Reading/Viewing List: Deb addresses the issue of Viva Laughlin’s cancellation. Access Hollywood has a very brief clip of Hugh performing at the A Fine Romance benefit concert last Saturday. And Hugh will offer a video address to the young performers in Perth's Storm the Stage talent competition next week.

In Wolverine News: The shooting schedule for the New Zealand portion of Wolverine appears to be set, according to this guild website. And a young actor from Down Under has been chosen to portray young Logan in the Wolverine movie.

Congratulations to Hugh, who is nominated for the Australian Film Institute’s International Award for Best Actor; the awards will be announced December 5-6. Young Logan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, is nominated for the L'Oréal Paris AFI young actor award, so he and Hugh are clearly well-suited!

Viva Laughlin Cancelled: Well, it's a risk that every new show takes, and arguably Viva Laughlin! took a lot more risks than others. Unfortunately, CBS has cancelled the program after airing two episodes due to low ratings. Condolences to Hugh and the cast and crew of the program for undoubtedly putting a lot of hard work and effort into the show, but kudos to them for an attempt at bringing something original to network TV. In the meantime, there are no current plans to air or release the remaining produced episodes; you can leave feedback for CBS to do so at their website. (It's located at the bottom left hand corner of the home page)

WOF FUND UPDATE: Great news - thanks to some recent generous donations, the total for Hugh's Walk of Fame star fund has now risen to $8,000! Thanks to all our wonderful contributors; we're still dutifully submitting Hugh's name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and are hopeful he'll make the list sooner or later. Reading ListMonday Reading List: Hugh had the honor of hosting the APEC gala dinner in Sydney on Saturday night; he's shown taking the stage in a bit of video nearly 2 minutes in on this clip. Just a couple of days before his APEC hosting duties, Hugh and costar Nicole Kidman bid farewell to the Kununurra area as their work on the film Australia moves back to Sydney. In stage news, the year 2008 may see Hugh's return to the Australian stage and some further viewing - this video about celebrities who champion causes features a clip of Hugh and Deb from the 2004 Red Ball about 2:30 minutes in.

Woodside, who plays Hugh's right-hand man in the upcoming CBS series Viva Laughlin, explains why Hugh is boring. And in Australia film news, local aboriginal communities have made the cast and crew of the epic Baz Luhrmann film feel quite welcome. Saturday night's Red Ball for The Bone Marrow Donor Institute appears to have been a fun time for all, especially the event's co-hosts, Hugh and Deb.
