Con Round-Up: Well, Hugh's surprise appearance last Thursday at
ComicCon San Diego brought the house down, generating lots of
positive buzz for both Hugh and X-Men Origins: Wolverine;
Hugh graciously and enthusiastically addressed the ComicCon crowd as
shown in this
Empire magazine video.
No surprise, Hugh's ComicCon appearance
received pretty universal raves, well illustrated by the folks at
AICN.
In other news, X-Men's co-creator Stan Lee
will get to
share some screen time with Wolverine, while in
Australia film news, it looks like some re-shoots will be
forthcoming, according to Hugh.
And still on Australia, director
Baz Luhrmann will direct the new Tourism Australia's ad
campaign, which plays heavily on his upcoming film.

ComicCon Update: He wasn't on the schedule, but Hugh flew in from Australia to present footage from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Walk of Fame Star awarded! We're beyond delighted to report
that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce picked Hugh as one of its
2009 honorees.
Do you realize it's been four years since the original submission?
Four years and a great deal of effort by many of you fans, donating
your hard earned money to help cover the fees required by the Hollywood Chamber.
Hugh has five years after the initial award
to schedule a ceremony. All fees must be paid, in full, before the
Chamber will set the actual date. Please be patient as
work goes on behind the scenes to determine the status of additional
fund raising. We'll report back when we know more.

Australia’s director, Baz Luhrmann, hosts the first of 10 scheduled podcasts featured on Apple’s "Set to Screen" series, which will take a look at different aspects of the production of this film. For those who cannot access Apple or iTunes, MovieWeb.com features the first
podcast. The digital postproduction storage company EFilm will be handling those duties
for Australia. In X-Men Origins: Wolverine news, Narellan Library in the Australian town of
Camden will host a stuntman workshop on April 24 featuring Hugh’s stunt double from the film.

Speaking of Australia--both the film and the country--Baz Luhrmann's epic film may be a boon to his country’s film industry. And the film is included among Fox’s list of major releases for 2008.
TV News (Australian TV Alert!): In Seed news, the young production company's newest venture, An Aussie Goes Bolly, airs next week. And Hugh's best mate Gus Worland returns as host for this second cricket series.
Another quiet night in a series
of quiet weeks. We hope Hugh and his family are enjoying a
lovely holiday break. In addition, we'd like to bid each
and every one of you a very merry Christmas and blessed holiday
season. Thank you, as always, for visiting, for your
contributions, and most of all, for your friendships. Nic,
Lori, Mel and Mon, my sincere appreciation for always being there; JL
wouldn't exist without your steadfast support.
JL enters its eighth year in 2008. As long as you, our readers,
are here and we have the energy to continue this volunteer passion,
amidst our warp-speed lives, the plan is to do so.
The JL staff plans to enjoy a well-deserved vacation beginning Monday,

And Hugh will offer a video address to the young performers in Perth's Storm the Stage talent competition next week.
In Wolverine News: The shooting schedule for the New Zealand portion of Wolverine appears to be set, according to this guild website. And a young actor from Down Under has been chosen to portray young Logan in the Wolverine movie.
Congratulations to Hugh, who is nominated for the Australian Film Institute’s International Award for Best Actor; the awards will be announced December 5-6. Young Logan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, is nominated for the L'Oréal Paris AFI young actor award, so he and Hugh are clearly well-suited!

Viva Laughlin Cancelled:
Well, it's a risk that every new show takes, and arguably Viva Laughlin!
took a lot more risks than others. Unfortunately, CBS
has cancelled the program after airing two episodes due to low
ratings. Condolences to Hugh and the cast and crew of the program
for undoubtedly putting a lot of hard work and effort into the show,
but kudos to them for an attempt at bringing something original
to network TV. In the meantime, there are no current plans to air
or release the remaining produced episodes; you can leave feedback
for CBS to do so at their website.
