It's with some sadness that we announce that, due to Amazon's Affiliates program shutting down as of later this week, we are closing the JL Charity Bazaar effective immediately. We wish we could have given you all more of a heads-up but this news came to us quite suddenly, and so unfortunately we have no choice but to close up shop. Everyone here at JL is extraordinary grateful for all of you who have made purchases through the Bazaar over the years, and helped us raise money periodically for The Lighthouse Foundation. Thanks again for your support! If any opportunities to reopen under another program arise in the future, we will be sure to let you know.

When Jackman's Landing was launched I had a dream to provide a section where Hugh's supporters could do two things: satisfy their desire to own examples of his work while simultaneously contribute to a cause both he and Deb champion. Getting started took a long time and getting re-designed for the new site took longer, but such is real life on a busy volunteer website. In addition, it was important to wait until the product lines were extensive enough that the percentage from sales was worth the effort involved.

Inside the JL Charity Bazaar, you'll find buttons for ordering videos, DVDs, CDs, toys, books, etc. (Please check back often as we will frequently update items that are on pre-order, or if something goes out of print.) The percentage of profits JL will net from site-generated sales will be donated to The Lighthouse Foundation, located in Australia. Deborra-Lee is an official patron of the organization, and has said the following:

"When I was first introduced to the staff at the Lighthouse Foundation, I was so inspired by their commitment, passion and belief in creating a positive environment for the children who needed a helping hand. It is my wish that this inspiration be carried over to all that learn of the work being done at the Lighthouse. As a new mother it is even more apparent that there is no division between my child and all the other children. They all need to be loved and cared for. The Lighthouse does make a difference! In the next years let's make an even greater one!"

Why this charity in particular? We wanted an Australian based charity for many reasons: Hugh and Deb are Australian, plus currency generated, unless the exchange rates shift, goes twice as far. Great bang for the buck as we say in the States. For those of you who don't know, in real life, I'm a masters prepared registered nurse specializing in community health. I've had pleasure to work in many a homeless shelter and am dedicated to helping individuals get back on their feet. So you can see, the choice was a cinch.
